Our policies and standards
The ETI Base Code is a code of conduct developed by the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI). The requirements contained in the ETI Base Code primarily concern the workplace, including terms of employment, freedom of association, health and safety standards, remuneration, compliance with working hours, equal treatment, and the respect for human rights such as the prohibition of forced labor and child labor.
SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) is an audit procedure developed on the basis of the ETI Base Code. The audit covers four areas:
- labor standards,
- health and safety,
- business ethics,
- environmental stewardship.
SMETA audit results may be published in the form of a report on the SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) platform. The report may be visible to the producer’s business partners.
